Job description

Job Description:

As an entry-level Equity Trader, you will undergo a comprehensive training program meticulously crafted to equip you with the essential skills for success in the ever-changing trading environment. Led by our experienced Head Trader and other seasoned professionals, the training commences in the classroom and seamlessly transitions to our trading floor. We firmly believe that live trading is the most effective method for learning and succeeding in this dynamic environment.

Successful candidates must embody the dual qualities of being self-starters and effective team learners. The role is best suited to individuals who thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment, while demonstrating a keen ability to maintain focus and composure under intense pressure.

While new traders will have the opportunity to earn bonuses from trading right away, we recognize that there is a learning curve that varies for each individual. To help counter that, we place a strong emphasis on actively trading and gaining experience right off the bat. Our primary focus is on providing a supportive environment for continuous growth and improvement. We encourage you to build the skills and habits in the short term that will pave the way for long-term success and a fulfilling career as a trader at Chimera.

New Trader Benefits:

In addition to the training provided, you can also expect the following:

  • Direct access to mentors: Gain valuable insights & guidance through direct access to experienced traders who will serve as mentors.
  • Daily pre & post firm wide market meetings: Stay informed & engaged with daily meetings, both pre & post market, providing a platform for collaboration and strategy discussions.
  • Seminars led by top traders: Learn from the best with seminars conducted by top traders, providing valuable insights & strategies.
  • Trade Review: An experienced trader will review your trades with you multiple times a week
  • Trading floor rotation: Learn from multiple experienced traders as you have the opportunity to sit next to different traders as part of your learning.
  • Team building exercises: Foster camaraderie & skill development through a variety of team-building activities including trading contests, social events, volunteering opportunities, & more!

Requirements:

To be considered for the position, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • SIE & Series 57 exams: Exams must be passed prior to the start date.
  • Team player/coachable: Ability to collaborate effectively within a team & a coachable mindset.
  • Emotional discipline: Balancing highs and lows to stay even keel.
  • Strong quantitative & analytical skills
  • Passion for the markets
  • Entrepreneurial spirit

Requirements

Training Program Participation Requirements

BACHELORS DEGREE REQUIRED!

3.0+ GPA preferred. We are looking for hard-working, self-motivated and outgoing individuals with strong quantitative and analytical skills. Applicants must be self-starters while also being able to learn as part of a team. This is a fast-paced and challenging training program that requires the ability to focus and maintain composure under intense pressure. No previous trading experience is necessary.

**Licensing requirements:

Prior to being able to take the Series 57 exam, candidates will first need to pass the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam. The SIE exam is open to anyone 18 years of age to take without sponsorship by a firm. It is used to assess a candidate’s basic knowledge of the securities industry and is a pre-requisite to most qualifying FINRA exams. The exam focuses on industry terminology, securities products, the structure and function of the markets, regulatory agencies and their functions, and regulated and prohibited practices.

While not required, it is strongly encouraged that individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in trading take the SIE exam as soon as possible. Chimera will sponsor those offered a position in the training program for the Series 57 exam, only after the SIE has been passed. Participation in the training program is contingent upon successfully passing BOTH exams prior to the start date.
