Veterans Engineering is seeking 5 Enterprise Cloud Solutions Architects to join our team to expand their career in an exciting and challenging environment. We are looking for five architects with experience in the following:
- Experience reducing on premises/managed service infrastructure.
- Experience with datacenter closure/migration/consolidation/application rationalization.
- Experience as a Cloud Certified Instructor.
- Experience as a Cloud Certification Curriculum Builder.
- The final Solutions Architect will cover areas across the entire enterprise.
Responsibilities
As an Enterprise Cloud Solutions Architect, you will consider the big picture, and take a strategic and cross-organizational view of business activity systems and the IT they depend on.
Enterprise architecture is whatever can be documented by way of
- A business function (or capability) hierarchy
- end-to-end business process (or value stream) models
- infrastructure and application portfolio
- other documentation as available with mappings between them.
You will be responsible for asking questions until the business problem is clarified between necessary stakeholders, translating business drivers to technical staff and technical concepts to government officials and leaders.
You must be a self-starter who collaborates well, helps others, and completes your assigned initiatives in a timely and complete fashion. You will lead teams for assigned projects and collaborate with government customers and vendors. You will apply your expertise on multiple complex work assignments, which are broad, requiring originality, creativity, and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. You will apply your in-depth knowledge across key tasks and high-impact assignments, evaluate performance results and recommend changes as necessary to achieve project success. You will lead the high-level and detailed architecture of complex systems related to various business areas.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Past experience working with or in the United States Department of Veterans Affairs
- Possesses mature leadership and management skills.
- Must have a strong understanding of Azure and AWS Well-Architected Frameworks in cloud production environments and understand how to use that knowledge to guide migration teams moving to the cloud.
- Must possess multiple certifications in AWS and Azure cloud environments with a strong preference toward AWS Professional certifications and Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.
- At least eight (8) years of specialized experience in cloud architecture planning, estimating, application migration and cloud governance.
- Proven skills in Cloud-native development
- A dynamic personality that highlights leadership and flexibility to adjust when faced with challenges or adversity.
- Strong people skills and the ability to diplomatically resolve conflicts.
- Able to lead and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Flexible, responsive, and able to work to specific deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential as well as strong customer focus and presence.
- Knowledge of Agile practices and governance
- Strong Visio skills
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Healthcare experience a plus
- Existing US Government Public Trust moderate background investigation preferred.
