Enterprise Architect
An Enterprise Architect is a strategic IT professional responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive and cohesive Enterprise Architecture that aligns with an organization's business goals. This role involves creating a blueprint that encompasses business processes, information systems, technology infrastructure, and applications. The Enterprise Architect collaborates with various stakeholders, including business leaders and IT teams, to ensure that the architecture supports the organization's strategic objectives. Key responsibilities include strategic alignment, technology evaluation, risk management, governance, technical leadership, and collaboration with project teams. The Enterprise Architect plays a vital role in guiding technology decisions, ensuring compliance with standards, and driving innovation to optimize the organization's overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Enterprise Architecture that aligns with organizational goals and objectives.
- Define and document architectural standards, principles, and guidelines.
- Align the Enterprise Architecture with the overall business strategy and objectives.
- Collaborate with business leaders to understand their strategic vision and translate it into architectural requirements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Provide recommendations on the adoption of new technologies that align with business needs.
- Engage with stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and external partners, to understand their requirements and perspectives.
- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Establish and enforce Enterprise Architecture governance processes.
- Ensure compliance with architectural standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate architectural risks, ensuring the security, reliability, and scalability of enterprise solutions.
- Implement risk management strategies to address potential issues in the architecture.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams.
- Ensure that projects adhere to established architectural principles and best practices.
- Contribute to the development of IT strategies and roadmaps.
- Define and communicate the long-term vision for the Enterprise Architecture.
- Work closely with project teams to provide guidance on architecture-related decisions.
- Ensure consistency and coherence across projects within the organization.
- Monitor the performance and effectiveness of the Enterprise Architecture.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the architecture over time.
- Create and maintain documentation of the Enterprise Architecture, including diagrams, models, and other artifacts.
- Ensure that documentation is accessible and understandable to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide training and awareness programs for teams to ensure understanding and adherence to architectural standards.
- Foster a culture of architectural awareness and understanding across the organization.
- Manage and facilitate changes to the Enterprise Architecture.
- Ensure that changes are communicated effectively and implemented with minimal disruption.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors and partners, ensuring that their products and services align with the Enterprise Architecture.
- Contribute to the development of IT budgets related to Enterprise Architecture initiatives.
- Optimize resource allocation for architectural projects.
Qualifications:
- Masters or bachelors degree in business, computer science, computer engineering,
- electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent
- experience.
- 8+ years of business experience in strategic and operations planning and/or business
- analysis or experience as an Enterprise Architecture consultant.
- 8+ years of experience in at least three disciplines, such as business, information, solution
- or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis,
- database management or operations in a multitier environment.
- Must have knowledge of key oracle EBIZ suite modules (MFG, Finance, Supply Chain,
- Procurement).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform
- as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and
- predictive analytics.
- Understanding of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit
- analysis, budgeting and risk management.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture tools, related graphical models, and frameworks.
- Awareness of existing, new and emerging technologies, and processing environments.
- Effective leadership skills with exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including
- teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
- Strong consulting skills
- Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills.
- Estimates the financial impact of EA alternatives and applies multiple solutions to business
- problems.
- Rapidly comprehends the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
- Highly innovative with aptitude for foresight, systems thinking and design thinking.
- Practical in approach to problem solving and decision making.
