Enterprise Architect

The Enterprise Architect will support a team of seasoned architects that serve to effectively plan, design, and manage Enterprise Architecture. The candidate will have relevant and practical experience architecting, developing, and deploying large-scale, integrated systems using modern technologies and best practices. The candidate will have the following qualifications as defined below:
The Enterprise Architect will have the following primary job responsibilities:
Architecture and Design – The candidate will ensure the high-level solution design for new products and enhancements to existing products aligns with IT strategic directions, strategies, and policies. The candidate ensures the architecture and solution design is established based on appropriate technologies as well as industry and organizational best practices. The candidate plays a lead role throughout the SDLC including requirements analysis, high-level architecture decisions, technology selection, system integration, development, testing and deployment.
Governance, Standards and Policies – The Enterprise Architect will contribute to efforts to define, maintain, and enforce architectural and technology standards and principles that drive consistency and efficiency across the organization. The candidate will collaborate with IT and business stakeholders and leadership to create and maintain these standards and policies. The architect will ensure governance, standards and policies are reviewed on an ongoing basis to ensure relevancy and accuracy.
Technology Evaluation – The candidate will identify and research emerging technologies that benefit the organization. They will create documentation assessing the possible benefits, risks and costs associated with implementing such technology. The Enterprise Architect will present recommendations and findings to IT and business stakeholders as well as senior leadership, as appropriate.
Documentation – The candidate will create, maintain, and disseminate documentation of the organization's technology, governance, policies, and standards.
Technology Roadmaps – The Enterprise Architect will work with IT stakeholders to identify the as-is state of technology within the organization. The candidate will collaborate with other groups to create technology roadmaps based on an understanding of strategic business goals and emerging technologies. These roadmaps will serve to shape the future state of the organization's technology landscape in a way that increases organizational efficiency, agility, and maintainability.
The Enterprise Architect will have the following skills:
Deep knowledge and practical experience with the following technologies and frameworks:
Full-stack development using C#/.NET, SQL Server, document databases, front-end and server-side JavaScript frameworks, observability platforms, and logging solutions.
Amazon Web Services and the use of these services to create secure, scalable, high-performance applications.
Hands-on experience migrating on-premises applications to AWS managed services. Experience leading efforts to redesign application architectures to employ native AWS services.
Experience and a deep understanding of continuous integration, automated testing and deployment frameworks, platforms, and practices. Hands-on experience with DevSecOps practices and technologies in the design, development, and implementation phases of product lifecycles.
Experience designing, developing, and implementing data storage, business intelligence, master data management, and machine learning/artificial intelligence solutions using innovative yet practical technologies.
Ability to effectively communicate and explain complex technical concepts to both IT experts and non-technical business stakeholders. This includes possessing excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
Ability to collaborate with a wide range of staff including developers, analysts, product owners, as well as IT and business leadership.
Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills to align technology solutions with business objectives in a pragmatic manner. This includes having strong problem-solving skills to address complex technology challenges and possessing the ability to make informed decisions.
The Enterprise Architect will have the following education, training, and experience:
Degree in computer science or a related field of study.
Certifications including – AWS Certified Solutions Architect (required), Azure (preferred), Agile/SCRUM (preferred), TOGAF (preferred)
At least ten years experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale, integrated enterprise applications using innovative, modern technologies and best practices.
Prior experience working with insurance and financial management systems and/or association and membership systems preferred.
