The Enrollment Services Specialist will promote a customer service-oriented atmosphere by addressing current and prospective students' needs (via email, phone, electronic chat, or in-person) in an effective and timely manner. The Enrollment Services Specialist will also perform various administrative duties essential to the operation of the Student Services division. Additionally, this position will utilize multiple technical tools including the admissions application (XAP), the Student Information System (SIS), Navigate, Perceptive Content, LiveChat, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Office Suite, and more. This includes but is not limited to all Admission & Enrollment forms (placement waivers, domicile, enrollment requests, etc.).
This is a part-time 29 hour per week afternoon and evening position. The expected working hours will be early or mid afternoon through 8 or 9pm, M-Th. We may occasionally request a change in working hours to assist with specific college events. Typically, this position will be required to work most hours on campus, in person. Once an initial training period is completed, this position may have some limited opportunities for telework, however, the majority of time worked will always be required to be on site. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
Duties include:
• Greeting visitors to the building
• Answering phone and live chat queries; answering questions as appropriate and referring others to appropriate employee for follow up
• Assisting students with passwords and other common issues
• Assisting students with enrolling in classes and troubleshooting problems with enrollment
• Current student outreach as needed
• Answering basic student questions over email, phone, chat, and in person
• Processing Enrollment Services paperwork including enrollment requests, documentation updates, and more.
• Assisting faculty and staff with questions and needs related to student enrollment.
• Utilizing and updating multiple computer-based applications including but not limited to Oracle PeopleSoft SIS, EAB Navigate, and Hyland Perceptive Content.
Telework
According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking, effective July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position, as defined by heads of agencies. Positions requiring more than two days of telework weekly will require approval from the Department of Education's Cabinet Secretary. Positions requiring more than two days of telework weekly require approval from the Office of the Governor's Chief of Staff.
Compensation:
The hourly pay range is $13.63-$19.47 per hour. The position is part time and as such cannot exceed 29 hours per week and is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However, the position may offer educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance policies.
