Momentum Academy is a public charter school district with four campuses in St. Louis City, serving scholars in grades PK-8. Role:
Under the direction of the Chief of Curriculum and Instruction and Principal, the ELL Coordinator will coordinate all English as a Second Language (ELL) programs and related activities; providing information and guidance to teachers and schools; implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards; developing goals and strategic plans; and providing supervision as needed and/or assigned.
Essential Responsibilities and Competencies:
- Creates a comprehensive ELL educational program, adheres to the testing requirements and reporting standards for DESE
- Organize, set up and lead District wide implementation of WIDA ACCESS
- Develops and implements weekly instructional activities to promote English language acquisition
- Provide resources and EL solutions for teaching staff.
- Create PD, observe & provide feedback for teachers if needed.
- Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources and teaching methods to meet the needs of a diverse student population
- Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and aligned with the Missouri English Language Learner Proficiency standards
- Create “core standards,” for appropriate age levels to ensure students are reaching target language level. Utilize differentiation for new comers and early second Language Learners.
- Evaluate and edit in-class assessments for qualifying EL’s. Organize testing accommodation schedule for IA, STEP, MAP, and NWEA
- Evaluates individual student progress through regular assessments including the ACCESS for ELLs and W-APT screening test when appropriate
- Maintains effective and efficient student records including lesson plans directly aligned with Missouri’s ELL Proficiency standards and ILLPs (Individual Language Learner Plans)
- Ensures compliance with state requirements for ELL monitoring
- Perform other duties as requested or required
Education/Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
- Missouri Teaching Certification required
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) K-12 certification (provisional is acceptable)
Qualifications
- At least 1-3 years of teaching experience, urban experience a plus
- Experience working with students and families in low income urban communities
- Exceptional MS Excel Skills and strong skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- Proven track record of student achievement results
- Proactive and hands-on strategic thinker who enjoys tackling challenges and overcoming obstacles
- Strong relationship building, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Schedule
Teachers and staff are expected to be present for core hours of 7:30AM to 4:00PM during the school year from August to May.
