Tesla participates in the E-Verify Program
As an Engineering Technician within the Low Voltage Distribution design team you will build prototype wire harnesses, support component level testing and failure analysis for the LV system. Projects are open-ended and often with limited guidance. The parts you will produce are critical for early vehicle prototypes and other Tesla products and allow design teams to progress in their designs, find flaws and make decisions.
- Produce or rework wire harnesses in a lab or at vehicles in a shop
- Procure wire harness parts and materials from online vendors, Tesla’s suppliers or Tesla internal inventory
- Assemble test fixtures for mechanical and electrical validation of new components
- Conduct sealing, continuity, durability, and ergonomic testing and create reports
- Maintain and organize lab space, materials, tools and equipment needed to make and test wire harnesses and subcomponents
- Provide clear, accurate and timely feedback to engineers on problems found during testing or part production
- Complete tasks as directed by project schedules
- Support tasks that advance Tesla’s wire harness technology
- Expertise with wire harness components such as connectors, contact terminals, grounding terminals, splices, wire types, clips, heatshrink and taping
- Able to use multimeters, crimping tools, soldering irons, terminal extraction tools
- Be able to interpret electrical schematics, harness drawings, verbal or written instructions and translate to physical parts or to the operation of specialized equipment
- Experience with repairing vehicle wire harnesses
- Basic knowledge of circuitry and how electrical components work
- High level of craftsmanship and attention to detail married with the ability to work quickly
- Handle requests from multiple teams and work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to lift 20-40 lbs. and to maintain a safe working environment
- Excellent written & verbal communication and computer skills
- Desire to expand the capabilities and knowledge of the team to more advanced harness production and failure analysis techniques

$24.40 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
