Specialized Experience for Engineering Technician (Civil) - GS-12:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a wide range of duties concerned with the planning, design and construction administration of the architectural features of various buildings normally found on military installations; utilizing related design disciplines, particularly civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, sufficient to assure that areas of overlapping responsibilities receive proper design consideration and that overall project objectives are met; assisting in the review of plans and specifications, change orders, contract modification, findings of fact, claims, transfer documents, etc., to determine feasibility and adaptability; and analyzing contract modifications or supplemental agreements for engineering necessity, feasibility, and economy considering such aspects as status of construction, best interests of the Government, conformance with original design intent, and need as to functional facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
