In conjunction with leaders of Quality Operations, this position will also work with leadership in QA & other divisions of Harbor Freight Tools to enhance visibility, cooperation, and performance in the Product Development Lifecycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee team of Quality Ops Specialist Lead/Supervisor and Product Specialists to deliver on QA departmental tasks.
- Facilitate and/or lead cross-functional problem-solving projects on parts or processes within the company. These can be related to customer complaints, issues found during post launch testing, high return rates, and/or returned product analysis.
- Maintain team test bucket queue and schedule. Filter incoming test requests and decide on which test location(s) are going to do the tests. Prevent any unnecessary tests as seen fit.
- Final approval on test methods. Taking into account the reasons the project was created and making sure the testing team is using a sound testing plan that discovers both product manufacturing issues as well as product design issues.
- Monitor the day to day testing to make sure the team is following the test method and adhering to Engineering principles to properly find any issues in a timely manner.
- Final approval on the Test Report and Corrective Action Report completed by the tester. All data points in the test needs to be analyzed, testing needs to be confirmed to be sound, and all issues clearly identified and in terms that the factory understands the issue, how it was replicated, and gives them all the details to properly solve the issue.
- Provide recommendations to executive management regarding the improvements of existing items.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in the Quality Operations organization.
- Work collaboratively with internal corporate partners, including QA Inspection Team, QA Experts, Asset Recovery, Category Management and Global Sourcing to constantly improve quality and reliability objectives.
- Actively monitor Workfront to ensure escalations are being addressed in a timely matter, advocating for product improvements throughout the entire process to ensure SKUs that are identified have plans to discontinue the SKU or improve the SKU.
- Asking critical questions about our business in support of data driven (fact-based) decision making.
- Ensure compliance with core company values and consistently drive improvement while championing transparent collaboration with other departments.
- Lead the development and presentation of advanced PowerPoint presentations for executive review based.
- Aid in the integration of the Quality Assurance department into other key areas of the organization.

- Manage the QA Holds process and follow up to related product restrictions and rework plan.

Requirements
- 4-year Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or similar degree
- Understands how development engineering and testing fits in the manufacturing business (Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing).
- 5+ years of product development experience.
- Strong problem solving ability.
- Ability to prioritize and focus on most critical tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in project management.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Possess an ability to successfully work with other team members across departments and multiple levels of authority.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to handle and make sense of large amounts of data.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $109,500 - $164,300 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 236 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
