Job Description
Salary: $160,000 to $190,000 + equity and benefits
About the Company:
Little Otter is reimagining the way that children receive mental health care. We pair technology, and exceptional care to deliver high-quality personalized mental health support to families and children anywhere, anytime. Developed by Dr. Helen Egger, previously Head of Child Psychiatry at NYU Langone and Duke University, and the top minds in early childhood mental health, our programs empower families to get back to what matters the most as soon as possible. Little Otter helps parents better understand their child's emotions and behaviors, providing personalized care plans and evidence-based therapy.
We are looking for team members who are mission driven and excited to actively participate in growing our offering. Our engineering team is small where there's an opportunity to have a large impact on the work we are doing and the decision making process. Our approach is to take a data-driven and evidence-based approach to providing high-quality mental health care to families and children and we are building the platform to enable it. This will be the first of its kind - a platform that focuses on providing a family-centric model to care and one that powers our providers to provide data-driven care.
About You:
As an Engineering Manager responsible for building and managing a team dedicated to developing critical business operation workflows, you will have a significant impact on our platform and services. You're a seasoned professional with:
- Strong leadership skills and experience in managing high-performing engineering teams.

- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and building scalable ETL pipelines.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering with demonstrated proficiency in programming languages, such as Java, Golang, and/or Python, and system design.
- Commitment to high coding standards, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience in the healthcare industry, particularly mental health care, is a plus, along with a thorough understanding of HIPAA and related regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering team responsible for the development and maintenance of our business operation workflows, including our Data Platform and additional software for customer success, claims processing, and more.
- Own the full software development lifecycle: from conception and design to deployment and maintenance.
- Drive technical innovation and efficiency in infrastructure operations while collaborating with the team to meet strategic goals.
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our platform.
- Make key architectural and technology decisions and guide the team in implementing best practices.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team.
- Architect and maintain the support function for the engineering and IT teams, establishing a responsive, efficient, and scalable support structure.
