We are seeking a leader that will direct critical efforts building the next generation of our advertising platforms. You will have the opportunity to define, refine, and/or refactor approaches and architectures to meet the system engineering challenges we must solve. You will grow and lead a team of extraordinary engineers, motivated to apply groundbreaking technologies to deliver excellent experiences to our customers. You and your team will play essential roles building ML products that deliver on Apple's privacy commitments to our customers and change the way advertising works with data. You will partner closely with the business to deliver relevant data and insight to inform our strategy and decisions.

Demonstrated success in working within and leading multi-functional teams
Experience leading teams that deliver mission-critical production services with substantial scale and expensive failure modes; enjoy working on a shared codebase that supports web-scale, mission critical applications
Deep understanding of modern data engineering approaches
Experience with data and serving architectures that support machine learning development platforms and production applications
Demonstrated ability to lead teams that implement highly performant, resilient, and reliable data services
Substantial experience with Spark, Hadoop, HIVE, Kafka, Cassandra or other distributed systems
Expertise in Python, Java, Scala, SQL, and/or other relevant languages and frameworks
Experience working in cloud environments and are familiar with object stores, inference engines, and common cloud-native data storage and processing frameworks
Experience in CI/CD environments, understand supporting technologies and standard methodologies
Familiarity with A/B and other online testing applications
Experience using data analysis techniques to understand data quality, profile system loads, understand the relationships between business metrics, and technical metrics
Experience working closely with operational teams on deployment, monitoring, and technology management concerns

Education & Experience
BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Distributed Systems, Software Engineering, or related field; and experience designing, building, maintaining, and extending web-scale production systems.
