SUMMARY
We are actively seeking an Engineering Managerin our Knox, IN location. This position supervises and manages the Manufacturing Engineering Department for the division and its support of manufacturing through the creation and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and procedures. This position oversees and delegates responsibilities within the department as they relate to the launch of new product, processes, & programs, managing capital projects, troubleshooting manufacturing problems, implementing continuous improvement projects, and making process improvements to improve quality, efficiency, cost reduction, and division profitability. Directs the modification of existing equipment and increases automation to optimize productivity. The position requires the performance of all tasks related to management of the team and department, including fiscal responsibilities. Some public speaking, customer contact, and travel may be necessary also required.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
· Directs the activities of the ME group in the development of production documentation, methods, tooling and equipment requirements, and MEC projects, using sound, fiscally responsible judgment.
· Organize, determine and assign the generation of designs and drawings for: gauges, fixtures, special machinery, manufacturing equipment, replacement parts, equipment modifications, etc.
· Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes ensuring optimization and updating of processing layouts, building layouts, floor plans, and equipment.
· Applies lean techniques, directs and assists employees in the use of these techniques and tools to reduce waste and improve overall productivity.
· Plan automation of processes to improve manufacturing capabilities of the organization.
· Active member and / or leader of Problem Solving Teams, Advanced Quality Planning efforts, and other related project teams.
· Facilitate and direct training of department staff or other personnel as required, (i.e.: Drafting, CAD, Engineering concepts, Process development and/or improvements, etc).
· Read the work environment and engineering issues and ensures steps are taken by engineering staff to envision issues, apply standards and theory and bring the solution to practical useful reality.
· Manage and supervise department and staff to company policies, plans, and procedures
· Establish departmental policy and procedures and create or modify work instructions in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS).
· Work with other staff management to set goals and objectives of the division, create plans for timely achievement these goals, and eliminate obstacles impeding their achievement
· Provide technical support and effective communication to other departments, customers, and plants as necessary
· Analyze capital requirements and submit recommendations for the Capital Plan. Monitor Capital Plan and submit capital expenditure request assigned. Implement capital projects in accordance with company budget and strategy.
· Process Manager is responsible for all related duties on their process turtle and applicable customer requirements.
· Other management duties as necessary or assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Degree in Engineering or related technical field
· 5+ years’ experience in Engineering in a related industry.
· Supervisory or project leadership experience
· Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills to target audiences
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience in metals manufacturing or processing industries
· Knowledge and experience in equipment automation.
· Proven project management experience.
· PLC experience (design, installation, repair, and/or programming)
· Previous experience with Lean manufacturing.
· Experience with TS-16949 and ISO 14001 or other equivalent systems.
· Experience in justification and implementation of capital equipment
· Proficient in office and engineering related computer software

- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and inspire a team
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
