POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lab Tech Senior builds engineering prototypes, maintains psychrometric test cell and lab conditioning equipment, and will perform unit modification in and out of the psychrometric test cells to aide in the short and long-term research and development or our eco-friendly heating and cooling solutions. Additionally, the Lab Tech operates psychrometric test cells and airflow measuring stations as per established standards and procedures to support sustaining and NPD projects. This position also trains personnel and writes processes and procedures with Engineering Services Managers and Tech Leaders. This position can work without supervision and works very closely with the Lead Tech and Managers.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Follow verbal and written instructions from Project Engineers, Designers and Lead Technicians, as well as Engineering Services Managers
- Mentors Engineering Lab Tech I & II personnel working jointly and advising them on projects
- Follow and assist in the development of processes and procedures for setup and installation of equipment in test cells
- Follow and assist in the development of processes and procedures for setup as they relate to regulatory agencies
- Read and interpret sheet metal drawings, wiring diagrams, and develop wire charts
- Silver brazing of copper and dissimilar metals such as brass and steel
- Soft soldering of copper and copper to brass
- Identify fit, form, and function of the major components of a heat pump and fan coils systems with the ability to assist lower-level technicians in the operation of those components in the system
- Assemble units and make unit modifications with no supervision
- Maintain clean work environment as per established guidelines in accordance w/5S principles
- Ability to work with competing demands
- Can use AS400 Product Inquiry and Product Structure Inquiry Screens as well as assist Lead Techs and DAQ Engineer with Hardware and Software implementation and troubleshooting
- Licensed forklift operator
- Trained and certified for LOTO Electrical Safety
- Consistently maintains a clean and well-organized work area
- Able to work flexible hours. May include Saturday and overtime work

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but is an integral part of the training program for Engineer Lab Tech I & II personnel.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education:
- Associate degree, technical certification or equivalent experience in HVAC.
Experience:
- High-Level: 7 years of HVAC technical experience preferred.
Computer Skills:
- Working knowledge of Database software; AS400, Micro-Soft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel). Working knowledge of LabVIEW software and National Instruments hardware is required.
Certificates & Licenses:
- LOTO Electrical Safety Certification. CCG Powered Industrial Truck Certification, Refrigerant Handlers license.
- Industry applicable licenses are preferred
Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of basic refrigeration concepts and tools is fundamental in this position. Knowledge of the basic refrigeration cycle is required
- Ability to identify basic components of the refrigeration cycle and how they interact with each other. Working knowledge of the pressure temperature relationship and how it relates to the calculation of sub-cooling and superheat and system approach
- Knowledge of basic electrical concepts. The ability to apply basic Ohm's Law principles and how they apply to inductive, capacitive, and resistive circuits
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits via the pressure method of troubleshooting
- Knowledge and use of basic hand tools, sheet metal tools, air and motorized tools such as screw guns and drills, as well as grinders, circular and band saws
