Summary
These positions are located in the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6 in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and the Fremont-Winema National Forest.
The position is an Engineering Equipment Operator Supervisor, serving as construction and maintenance crew supervisor responsible for construction, maintenance, supervision and management of assigned fleet.

Duties
  • Operate Engineering Equipment, such as graders, tractors with bulldozer or angledozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors.
  • Excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on all types of terrain.
  • Adjust equipment attachments for proper positioning and working order, making adjustments without stopping the power unit or the equipment.
  • Perform a variety of fleet management responsibilities including:procurement, disposition, rotation, repair, and maintenance of vehicles in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

  • This is a Test Designated Position. You will be tested for illegal drugs prior to appointment and randomly thereafter. Appointment and continued employment is conditional on negative results.

  • Must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Subject to one-year supervisory probationary period (unless prior service is creditable). New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required new supervisory training program before the end of their probationary period.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
