Job description

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary team and implement integrated flood and ecosystem management improvements. The candidate will support the implementation and financial oversight of flood risk reduction studies and projects for levee and flood control facility planning, evaluations, engineering design, construction, and repair. The candidate will coordinate with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Central Valley Flood Protection Board, and local flood control agencies responsible for flood risk reduction studies and projects; support the management of multiple complex funding agreements; work with other Department of Water Resources (DWR) divisions to conduct technical reviews of design plans and reports; review and process invoices and reimbursement claims from federal and local sponsors; organize and facilitate project meetings and presentations. The candidate will support alignment of partnering agency programs and projects, including coordinating with federal agencies, local land use and implementing agencies, regulatory, and water management agencies to advance the DWR mission, align interests, address regulatory issues, and frame statewide issues. They will also ensure partnering agencies understand State priorities and the value of programs as identified in the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California’s WATER RESOURCES, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Candidate should possess knowledge of flood system performance, hydrology & hydraulics, engineering design, permitting, environmental compliance documentation, contract management; and have experience with project management, public speaking, and funding administration.
