Your Responsibilities
As an Engineer - Rotational Assignmentfor John Deere’s Worldwide Parts Distribution Center located in Milan, IL, you will...
- Have an opportunity to rotate between assignments spanning various specialized functions of Warehousing Engineering including, but not limited to, Industrial Engineering and Packaging Engineering.
- Provide support and basic troubleshooting for current operational processes and work with data in support of specifically assigned, recurring tasks.
- Establish methods, layouts, tools, costs, documentation, and labor standards for revisions to current processes and/or new parts or programs with limited scope.
- Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, productivity, and delivery improvement ideas of limited scope.
- Analyze, transform, and communicate data to improve business processes.
- Design operations and facilities layouts to improve material flow, density, and material presentation.
- Implement new warehousing processes and technology.
- Maintain existing performance/incentive pay plans and assist in the development of baseline data for required modifications.
- Actively participate in the facility's Continuous Improvement (CI) program.

What Skills You Need
- 1 or more years of experience using engineering tools and processes – either on-the-job or via post secondary coursework.
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and summarizing complex data to make sound decisions.
- Experience working effectively in a team environment.
- Effective communicator with ability to engage others.
- Proven aptitude adopting new technology, systems, processes, and tools.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience implementing improvements in design, quality, efficiency, and/or productivity.
- Understanding of gainsharing programs such as CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plan).
- Experience or willingness to learn programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, Java, or similar.
- Working knowledge of database management tools and process management systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing/distribution processes, quality, tooling, and/or preventative maintenance principles.
- General proficiency using computer-aided design tools such as AutoCAD.
- Experience using corrective action tools such as root cause analysis and mistake-proofing.
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial/Manufacturing, Electrical, Packaging, etc.)
