SALARIED POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Quality Engineer ll
PLANT / SECTION: Manufacturing Support / Quality Control Section
BASIC FUNCTION
Under supervision of the designated QC Manager is responsible for communicating customer needs and expectations internally to a variety of organizational functions including manufacturing and engineering. Support the assigned manufacturing areas in meeting objectives for product quality and scrap reduction. Performs a variety of engineering studies and analysis and implements plans to maintain and improve product quality. Develop and implement procedures and standards. Provide support and assistance to manufacturing leadership and associates in resolving problems and implementing continuous improvement activities. Supports achieving company goals for quality, cost, and delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  1. Responsible for investigating customer complaints regarding product quality and defects. Provide analysis and recommendations for counter measures to eliminate future occurrences. Implement countermeasures including changing documentation
  2. Responsible for participating on cross-functional teams to implement approved countermeasures. Works with manufacturing, engineering and associates to insure effectiveness and compliance with approved countermeasures.
  3. Responsible for analyzing returned parts by a variety of tests to determine root cause of defect and reporting on failure analysis.
  4. Responsible for attendance and participate in New Product Development (NPD) meetings as it relates to QC mass production functions.
  5. Supports Production Engineering to establish standard documentation, process diagrams, FMEA, Process flow charts, trial reports, engineering changes, process changes and other documentation as needed to maintain compliance with quality management system and customer requirements.
  6. Responsible for assisting in control plan revision documentation and Engineering change notice documentation to include participating in scheduled meetings, supporting consensus and documenting agreements.
  7. Champion the product quality for assigned product / customer as directed. Responsible for assisting in hosting customer for all on-site visits and travelling to the customer location to fulfil the specific functions of this position.
  8. Performs other duties, tasks, or projects at the direction of immediate supervisor.

Experience Required:
Two (2) years in an automotive quality position affording a knowledge of quality standards, customer relations, problem solving, and effective communication skills (written, spoken and listening).
Education Required:
A.S. degree in engineering technology or equivalent related experience.
BS/BA degree preferred.

While performing this job the position is often exposed to moving or mechanical parts and moderate noise levels found in a factory environment. Position is required to travel, occasionally overnight, to perform essential functions. Position is often required to work overtime on little or no notice, and to work varied shifts to conduct duties.
