The Engineer (Procurement and CGD) will be assigned to the Engineering Programs group within the Engineering Department. The Engineer will be responsible for generating Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) packages within the guidance of applicable industry standards and site procedures, ensuring compliance to NQA-1 quality requirements and State, Federal and Local codes and requirements as set forth by regulatory agencies including the Department of Energy (DOE). They will become familiar with the procurement process for items related to safety of the facility and nuclear worker. They will perform technical evaluations including Failure Mode and Effects (FMEA) analyses to develop critical characteristics for acceptance of the Commercial Grade item which provide reasonable assurance the component will perform its safety function once installed in the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain procedural compliance to Conduct of Engineering Program Manual and other site-level procedures
- Supporting procurement of safety related equipment and components through the NQA-1 compliant Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) process
- Prepare Commercial Grade Dedication Packages and Receipt Inspection Criteria Packages (RICP) for facility Safety Significant (SS) and Safety Class (SC) procurement of safety equipment
- Process Material Service Requests (MSRs) for the facility by providing appropriate procurement documentation for upgrading
- Supporting Facility Maintenance with CGD required documentation input for SS and SC components and supporting Facility Spare Parts Administrator with required documentation for Engineered Equipment spare parts
- Interface with Design Authorities and support preparation of critical characteristic technical evaluations that drive testing and inspection criteria development
- Review Vendor’s Commercial Grade Dedication Plans and procedure submittals for acceptance
- Support Quality Receipt Inspection with disposition of non-conformance reports as required by procedure
- Responsible for providing guidance to others with regard to questions / efforts that require advisory support within configuration management
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Familiarity with EPRI NP-5652 and TR-102260 Rev 1, DOE-HDBK-1230-2019, and NQA-1 2008 with 2009 Addenda
- Advanced knowledge and experience with DOE Orders and SRIDs
- Prior experience within the DOE complex working with DOE Orders and / or procedural compliance
- Previous similar type work with a DOE Site and / or Regulatory agency
- Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards, and/or National Testing Standards (ASME, ASTM, NQA-1, ISO, UL, FM, etc.)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with various groups, cross disciplinary departments, support organizations, and management
