Job Summary
The Outside Plant Field Engineer/Inspector is present on fiber optic construction projects to ensure that the fiber cable is being constructed properly and meeting the project requirements. The field staff will coordinate the various activities on the project and along with taking detailed field records of the installed fiber cable. This position may also consist of working on projects in an office setting with minimal travel depending on the project you are assigned.
In office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00-4:30.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Computer and technical literacy.
Authorized to work in the US.
Valid Drivers License.
Must pass drug screen & background check.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Observation- be on site when the contractor is performing utility locating, potholing, boring, trenching, plowing, excavation, duct proofing, cable placement, restoration, and clean-up work. Monitor and oversee contractors production and work each day, for as many hours as the contractor is on site.
Reporting - provide evaluation and report on construction progress to client Project Manager (PM). Provide clear and concise daily reports, compiled, and sent to the client PM each day. Provide clear and concise weekly reports, compiled, and sent to the client PM each week. Provide the client PM weekly (CUP) Units placed. Provide the client PM with an e-mail for all reports and field all calls from client PM related to the project. Ensure that all daily and weekly reports are delivered to client PM at projects end.
Issues - Relate any issues, problems, or obstacles that may delay construction, change construction, as well as relay any contact from governing authorities or municipalities related to the project or permits to client PM. Provide any information to client PM related to construction that deviates and or changes from the approved permitted construction plans or that is contrary to direction given by the client PM.
Additional Qualifications
Proficiency in reading designs and broad understanding of industry jargon.
Understanding of construction practices and telecom design (aerial, underground (UG), FTTX, copper, etc.)
Working Conditions
In office environment, cubicle, kitchen amenities in Nephi Office.
In the field, must adhere to Contractors Safety Requirements and have proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE.)

Salary Range
$19.00-$25.00 per hour
