Job description

Our mission (share it!):
Optiwatt's mission is to reverse global warming through the advancement of electric vehicle adoption and residential electrification. We make home energy usage cheaper, greener, and simpler by building towards the world's largest network of connected and intelligent distributed energy resources to balance the electric grid. Our investors are some of the most active impact investing firms out there, and we hold ourselves accountable to each other and the future generations of this planet. Do you want to straddle the intersection of technology and purpose on our growth trajectory to 1,000,000 connected homes and beyond? We hope so.
Our culture (thrive in it!):
"We're a small team of genuinely ethical people driven by helping others and our planet. And we love our virtual mini-golf tournaments." - Casey
"I love the people here like a family. We work hard and our meme game is strong. It is a flat, collaborative organization, I pitch directly to the CEO and feel heard, even when it's outside my specialty." - Nina
"We love what we do, which makes it feel more like a fun weekend project than work. And after all the features have been deployed, we disc golf." - Danny
"The culture is fun, full of hope and excitement. The office is always full of jokes and discussion about how we can better ourselves and the electric grid." - Ben
Your impact (grow it!):
As an engagement (or lifecycle marketing) Product Manager at Optiwatt, you will be directly responsible for shaping the interactive systems of communication technology that hundreds of thousands of homeowners interface with every day. We will look to you to assist in building and executing our engagement roadmap that connects thousands of electric vehicles to our energy supply, directly reducing CO2 emissions and preventing grid blackouts. You will interact with the company's various consumer segments via millions of email, push, SMS, in-app, and live interactions, working alongside a small team of driven software developers, UI/UX design staff, and marketing gurus who are hungry to make an impact on our customers and the planet. You will obsess over customer value and excitement, identifying pain points and addressing our users' heartfelt desires through creative touchpoints and thoughtful workflows. You will endeavor to understand the residential electrification market at its core, solve user problems, communicate progress, and overcome roadblocks. Above all, you will live and breathe engagement as a dopamine merchant within our product lines, working to deliver an excited and loyal user base for Optiwatt that will drive quality activations, reduced churn, organic growth, and extended lifetime value for many years to come.
This role is fully remote and reports directly to the Head of Growth.
Here's some exciting stuff you'll be working on:
  1. Personalize communication to each user within each major device category, so no matter if they are seeking education, electrification, automation, or program enrollment, Optiwatt can immediately add value, reward progress, and assist them in navigating the remainder of the electrification flywheel
  2. Nurture warm leads through conversion funnels with relevant and plentiful material, delivered thoughtfully in a manner that strikes a delicate balance between performance improvement and spam
  3. Become a thought leader in the major categories of residential electricity consumption and generation, including EVs, V2G, smart thermostats, HVAC, solar, storage, water heaters, water pumps, refrigeration, lighting, smart plugs, smart panels, smart meters, and many other IoT devices
  4. Expand and reinforce Optiwatt's core value propositions for various consumer segments within your messaging, including but not limited to savings, convenience, insights, and impact
  5. Track, measure, and iteratively improve through relentless obsession with data across web and app platforms, utilizing off-the-shelf tools such as CRMs, CEPs, and CDPs to reduce engineering involvement and deliver unyielding quality at scale
  6. Innovate in the white space of consumer technology by taking advantage of new channels such as live notifications on lock screens, positioning Optiwatt as a cutting-edge platform that takes calculated risks to deliver the best possible user experience
  7. Interface seamlessly within a cross-functional group of rockstars, including a talented team of senior full-stack engineers for product delivery, user success managers for issue resolution, designers for creative testing, and data scientists for measurement
  8. Hire additional product or creative talent as necessary, either external or internal, by making the business case to leadership, structuring the team to perform as a cohesive unit, and reporting on its effectiveness
  9. Continuously improve through feedback, as an individual, team, and organization

Requirements:
You are someone who is....
  1. Excited to work on any of the following; electric vehicles, building electrification, the electric grid, green technology, feedback loops, rewards platforms, and the psychology of the human mind
  2. Adaptable to ambiguity and personalities, able to work effectively across teams to structure problems, develop an attack plan, guide delivery, and measure results that align with business priorities
  3. Experienced in your career growth, with 5+ years as a Product Manager in consumer applications, ideally with 2+ years within engagement or lifecycle marketing
  4. Technically proficient, knowledgeable of the typical architectures of digital platforms, the internet, data pipelines, and more, with a willingness to innovate and push them to the boundaries of their capabilities
  5. Proficient in wireframing feature concepts using Figma, Adobe, or other design tools and constructively iterating on design with creative staff
  6. Able to analyze product usage and implement continuous data-driven improvements
  7. Data oriented in decision making, able to construct insights using knowledge of SQL or relational databases to learn and adapt from user behavior
  8. Self motivated and able to push towards product milestones with pace and accountability
  9. Excellent in evaluating tradeoffs between items on the product roadmap to maximize business outcomes given numerous constraints
  10. Motivated, target driven, with a proven track record in product management and a desire to grow within Optiwatt by pulling in work that excites you
  11. Educated, with a minimum of a Bachelor's in business administration, graphic design, communications, psychology, or an engineering field (exceptions made for deep industry experience or a proven track record of scrappy success). Advanced degrees in analytical, behavioral, or creative fields are encouraged but not required.
