ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT AND FIVE YEARS OF RELATED EXPERIENCE. CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY AUTOMATED LOGIC OR OTHER CONTROL MANUFACTURER WITHIN ONE YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT. MUST MEET THE DISTRICT VEHICLE LIABILITY POLICY REQUIREMENTS AND MAINTAIN A VALID TEXAS DRIVER'S LICENSE.
BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Provide customer service, technical support, maintenance, and act as the user interface for the District's building automation and ENERGY MANAGEMENT systems.

Support of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:
• Provide and continually improve customer-focused services for Building Automation (BAS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) to the District's academic, administrative, and operational personnel, serving all campuses and facilities.
• Monitor and maintain indoor environmental air conditions and indoor air quality including temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, outdoor air ventilation and indoor air changes.
• Ensure BAS performance and compliance with each facility's designed control sequence.
• Troubleshoot, repair and replace BAS malfunctions.
• Diagnose HVAC systems and equipment malfunctions and direct HVAC service technicians in repair and/or replacement.
• Perform facility occupancy scheduling on a daily basis.
• Coordinate BAS and EMS engineering services, construction, repair, and replacement with control vendors and contractors.
• Install communication conduit, cabling, wiring, and control devices as required.
• Lead and assist in the performance of energy audits.
• Perform air and water balance.
• Commission new and existing mechanical equipment.
• Participate in ENERGY MANAGEMENT strategic planning, energy conservation opportunities, budget forecasts, and cost control.
• Continually improve personal knowledge and user capabilities with BAS and EMS systems.
• Provide assistance to campuses/departments as requested.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of BAS and EMS software integration and user interface including setup of control logic and occupancy schedules, as well as peripheral components.
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems.
• Skill in reading and comprehending HVAC wiring diagrams, maintenance and control sequences.
• Skill in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC control components including Automated Logic and Alerton control systems.
• Skill in customer service and analytical/technical problem solving.
• Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Skill in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety guidelines for working around machinery, refrigerants, fumes or other toxic chemicals.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work responsibilities and delegate appropriate departmental tasks effectively.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent and five years of related experience. Certification required by Automated Logic or other control manufacturer within one year of employment. Must meet the District vehicle liability policy requirements and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:
• Work with frequent interruptions.
• Climb ladders and carry up to 50 lbs to rooftops.
• Use hands and fingers repetitively while working with control devices and mechanical equipment in the field.
• Use computer for prolonged period resulting in repetitive hand motions.
• Sit for extended periods of time.
• Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Travel frequently district wide.
• Operate light truck or van.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
• Work within machine rooms, crawl spaces, above ceilings and in other enclosed spaces.
• Work on rooftops when extreme temperatures occur.
• Exposure to extreme temperature changes (cold to hot).
• Exposure to loud noises.
• Walk on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding.
• Work around moving objects or vehicles.
