What You Can Expect
As the Energy Engineer located in Houston, TX, you will directly report to the Head Of Engineering for Onsite Utilities. Your duties include overseeing the design and providing cost estimates for onsite utilities projects throughout North America.
Daily, your role involves estimating energy consumption, which is the main role of this position, using capital expenditure (capex) and operational expenditure (opex) in collaboration with the Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Project Management, Construction, and Project teams for on-site utilities projects. Your goal is to ensure these projects are efficiently delivered to the Energy Services Asset Management Department. Additionally, you will be tasked with sizing and designing on-site utilities projects, including Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants, steam utilities, compressed air systems, cooling power plants, and multi-energy systems.
What You’ll Bring
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering function in which you have gained an understanding of thermal engineering
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience with a focus on thermal engineering in which you have developed knowledge of renewable development
- You possess experience with multiple solutions, including CHP’s, biomass-fired plants, cooling systems, and compressed air systems
- You are keen to enhance your knowledge in thermal engineering, renewable energy development, and decarbonization efforts
- You understand the implications of technical decisions for customers, particularly regarding financial aspects
- You maintain adherence to your team’s budget while skillfully evaluating diverse solutions
- You possess expertise in technical regulations and a solid understanding of commercial issues
- You effectively share onsite utilities innovations, guidelines, best practices, and tools with your team
- You collaborate closely with On-site Utilities Business Developers and Project Managers
- You liaise with Engie Labs to implement innovative solutions in a controlled manner
- You maintain an exceptional level of organization and professionalism, alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy with a minimum of two (2) days working in the Houston, TX office
- Must be available to travel domestically up to 15% of the time
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record
- Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Salary Range: $74,500 – $114,194 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
