Resource Innovations is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our growing team in Chicago, Illinois. As an Operations Manager with Resource Innovations, you will be relied upon to positively impact largescale Energy Efficiency programs through planning, directing, coaching and coordinating the activities of highly functional teams to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. The Operations Manager will play a highly visible role both internally and externally and will be responsible for developing short and long-term implementation plans and play a key role in ensuring that we will continue to meet and exceed our client expectations across multiple programs. This position requires excellent communication, planning, and people-management skills. A successful candidate must have proven experience managing programs, and directing staff and contractors, and be willing and able to roll up their sleeves to support project execution in a collaborative environment. Strong expertise in budgeting, planning/forecasting, and strategic planning is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees and participates in specific initiatives within program implementation, including the development of reports and project deliverables. Develops strategies to meet and exceed customer and project needs with efficient use of staff time, travel, and other resources.
  • Develop and review project proposal or plan to determine timeline, budget, project plan, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources.
  • Quantify needs and secure project-specific staffing needs and related resource requirements from cross-functional resources, or by hiring as appropriate.
  • Coordinates with the senior leadership to establish work plans and ensure adequate staffing for each phase of projects and programs.
  • Directs and coordinates project staff and subcontractors to ensure overall project and initiative success. Monitors workflow and performance of team members and provides guidance and feedback on assignments.
  • Assists with management and strengthening of client relations, and engages in the co-management of projects, present results, and develop new scopes of work and project plans based on the strategic goals and needs of the client.
  • Responsible for quality of services and products, contract compliance, and performance measures while maintaining project deliverable schedules for multiple projects:
  • Maintains quality control of all deliverable products demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining project schedules.
  • Performs program-level quality assurance and prioritizes which deliverables require review and at what level.
  • Seeks, utilizes and responds to client priorities, goals and feedback to support the execution, enhancement and continuous improvement of services and projects

Provides mentorship and support to staff responsible for:

  • Financial management of administered projects, including adherence to budgets, revenue targets, and profitability in alignment with company/business unit performance goals
  • Development and tracking of program budgets and metrics, ensuring the appropriate level of effort is being spent based on program goals and resources
  • Forecasting of spending (staff time, subcontractor and direct costs), revenues and production for assigned programs and portfolios
  • Oversees staff development (e.g., project management skills, technical capabilities) for assigned program delivery staff.
  • Works in partnership with other senior managers and leaders across the division to ensure proper knowledge management and program management best practices.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • In coordination with senior leadership, works with clients on contractual requirements and program integration with broader Energy Efficiency programs in the sector.
  • Tracks program information, including participation, contact information, project status, energy savings, goals, and budget expenditures, to inform and prioritize strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical field of study such as mechanical engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of previous Energy Efficiency program and client management experience.
  • Proven project management experience in developing and implementing project scopes, budgets and plans.
  • 5+ years of previous staff management experience
