What is the role?
Michaels Energy is looking for a 6-month co-op (approximately January – June) who is passionate about energy conservation AND has the desire to grow their knowledge of the Energy Efficiency industry, program delivery, and carbon reduction strategies. In this co-op role, you can use that passion to support Michaels’ product managers and engineers to save energy and lower utility bills. This role supports the delivery of a Public School Carbon Assessment program. Tasks you will learn during the co-op:
- Assist the Product Manager with administrative tasks required for program management including budgeting, data analysis, and database management
- Coordinate with subcontractors, including issuing and receiving requests for data and deliverables
- Assist in report writing and reviews for customers and clients
- Perform research tasks focused on grants and federal, state, and local government funding sources
- Support program marketing strategy and outreach through attending meetings and making phone calls
- Assist with the on-site engineering audits of elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Illinois
- Support program improvement and program development activities
- Assist with custom calculations for different building energy-using systems
- Write process and procedure documents for engineers, outreach, and interns
What are we looking for?
- Junior or senior-level students working towards a degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or Business
- Proven strong academic background
- Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills
- Passion for energy conservation
- Ability to travel up to 30% for customer site visits
