General Description: The EMT-Intermediate is responsible for responding to emergency calls, and assessing, treating and transporting patients. S/he drives ambulances, washes truck, completes reports and assists with course instruction. S/he is flexible with work schedules and available for call.
Responds to emergency calls and inter-facility transfers, providing basic and advanced life support transport and patient care.
Stocks supplies, checking trucks at the beginning of a shift and after every call.
Washes trucks, cleans bays and station.
Completes Run Reports and billing.
Assists with teaching classes in BLS, ACLS, PALS, EMT-Basic and EMT-Intermediate, if appropriate.
Education/Experience:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED preferred
Current license as an New Mexico EMT-Intermediate
Current Basic Life Support (AHA)
Valid New Mexico Drivers License at class “D” or above
*Must meet insurance requirement to drive hospital vehicles*
*An exception to this requirement can be approved by Administration based on the operational needs of the area served
Must be able to pass a DOT physical
Must complete all EMS department training and orientation requirements within the initial employment period
Bilingual in Spanish beneficial
EMS duties require employee to work different shifts, different days of the week, holidays, weekends, or as assigned.
