The employee in this position is responsible for serving as the EMS Education Coordinator (Captain) for the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Division, assisting the EMS Division Chief with planning, implementation and documenting all education and training activities for EMS Division providers. Additionally, the EMS Education Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation and documentation for the EMS training activities of all first responder agencies providing emergency medical first responder services in the County as required by the agreed upon First Responder Guidelines and Protocols and as referenced in the County fire service contracts.

- Associates Degree or higher
- Field and classroom work as a Paramedic and considerable experience in emergency medical work at the paramedic level, including experience as a classroom instructor, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiar with OSHA Standards, Infection Control Policy and Procedures, and certified at the Operations Level for Hazardous Materials.
- AHA ACLS, PALS and ITLS/PHTLS and NAEMT Instructor certifications
- Certification as a Level II Instructor NCOEMS Level II Instructor at the ALS Level (Paramedic)
Required Education and Experience
- Certification as a Level I EMS Instructor as dictated by NCOEMS at the ALS level (Paramedic) or an Associate's degree or higher
- Certification by the State of NC as a Paramedic or the ability to obtain NCOEMS Paramedic Certification upon hiring.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800.
- The employee will be required to maintain and attend continuing medical education hours for their required certification.
- AHA BLS Instructor certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring.
- NIMS ICS 300 & 400 within one year of hiring.
- EVD or EVOC within one year of hiring.
