Job description

Statement of Primary Purpose
The Emergency Medical Science Training Program (EMSTP) Clinical Coordinator/Instructor shall be responsible for the direction and management of both long-term and daily clinical operations of EMS training programs delivered through the Division of Public Safety Training Center (PSTC), reporting directly to the EMS Program Director, to include: Emergency Medical Responder to Paramedic, Medical training for as well as CPR and First Aid courses to area industry and the general public.

The Emergency Medical Science Training Program (EMSTP) Clinical Coordinator/Instructor will coordinate the establishment, sustainment and advancement of EMS training within the local and regional marketplace through the development of strategic partnerships, the effective and efficient use of personnel, budgets and resources, and a strict adherence to established professional standards to render the highest level of training capabilities to those who serve, safeguard and secure our communities within the State of North Carolina, our Nation's Federal level of EMS operations and essential personnel assigned to and working within the EMS system.

Curriculum faculty, full-time, exempt.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Possess an uncompromising commitment to SCC-PSTC mission and core values providing "Excellence in Training" to students and Public Safety Professionals throughout the college service area.
Provide leadership and maintain a climate of open communication, collegiality, and teamwork within the department; actively support the professional growth and development of the department.
Serve as liaison between Southwestern Community College and the clinical education sites
Responsible for the establishment of clinical sites and clinical faculty standards under the direction of the program director
Plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical facilities.
Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course outlines and published course schedule.
Maintain accurate records for each course taught.
Prepare, review, and update course outlines on a regular basis.
Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as necessary.
Assist in student recruitment, advising, and retention.
Participate in curriculum advisory committee meetings, if applicable.
Assist in selection and ordering of equipment, supplies, and textbooks.
Participate in college events and activities.
Attend college commencements.
Cooperate in scheduled student evaluations of instructor and course.
Submit all college reports in an accurate timely fashion.
Be responsible for professional development and maintaining professional competence.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others.
Provide assistance and data for reports for NC OEMS and/or CoAEMSP for accreditation. Meet with NCOEMS and CoAEMSP as needed for re-accreditation.
Maintain teaching course load in compliance with college and accreditation workload policy
Provide monthly updates on clinical site visits to EMS Program Director and Dean of Public Safety Training.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate and deliver Preceptor Training and updates to clinical sites and maintain current records of training for CoAEMSP accreditation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate Degree in EMS

Knowledge and skills
Minimum of five years' experience as an emergency EMT-Paramedic with an EMS provider.
Minimum of three years' experience of documented formal provision of EMS education.
Possess comprehensive knowledge in all EMS training to EMT-Paramedic level. Required instructor certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, PEPP/EPC, ITLS/PHTLS

Physical Demands
Ability to conduct practical exercises where physical contact may be involved, inclusive of physical fitness as required per instruction of courses. Ability to move equipment and supplies more than fifty (50) pounds.

Licensing Requirement
Current and valid EMS credential as N.C. Paramedic. Must also be credentialed as N.C. Level I EMT-Paramedic Instructor. Valid NC driver's license

Working Conditions and Environment
Classroom, lab, and field teaching environments; attend meetings and conferences as needed

Equipment Operation
EMS related equipment; operation of ambulance; office equipment
