Under direct supervision, follows up on applications submitted by candidates to employers. Advocates for candidates to receive an interview and/or get hired. Provides job coaching and on the job support services to assist the candidates in learning job tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Follow up on application submitted by candidates to a variety of employers. Advocates for candidates to receive an interview and/or receive a job offer. Set up interviews, follow up with the employer and clients/candidates after interview. Provides feedback to the client’s Employment Specialist.
- Markets clients to companies by creating new relationships and present talent for consideration. Initiates face-to-face and phone contacts with potential employers to introduce and explain agency/program services, describe clients’ strengths, and to learn about current job openings.
- Identifies appropriate job openings appropriate for clients/candidates through thoughtful use of existing agency job leads, cold calls, researching new opportunities and professional networking.
- Distributes job orders with pertinent information to staff. Maintain accurate and updated records in required database systems.
- Provide job coaching and follow-up services to individuals with disabilities at their employment locations, including individual meetings during the individual’s free time (lunch, before/after work hours), phone contact and other correspondence.
- Create and provide job accommodations and enhancements for candidates to perform tasks without assistance. Coordinates with employers on implementation, plans for fading and communicating progress.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with professional standards. Works cooperatively with co-workers and maintains collaborative relationships with Agency businesses, employees, clients, and outside representatives. Where appropriate, demonstrate empathy and concern in client interaction. Complies with all appropriate Agency policies and procedures including prescribed safety procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum two years related experience in one of the following areas: advocating for persons with disabilities, recruitment, staffing or sales experience.
- Knowledge of best practices resumes, interviewing techniques, business hiring methods and requirements.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the public.
- Highly organized with excellent time management and multi-tasking ability.
- Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as the ability to master Agency software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license, and have reliable transportation to locations that may not be accessible via public transportation.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of organization.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
