The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Assistant Emergency Services Manager, Licensed Clinician (LPC or LCSW).
Our Emergency Services team plays a pivotal role in providing round-the-clock crisis response, assessing immediate psychiatric interventions, and issuing temporary detention orders (TDO) when necessary to ensure mandated psychiatric treatment. As the Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the program manager to oversee the unit's dynamic and time-sensitive operations, guaranteeing that clients experiencing mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use, and co-occurring disorders receive responsive care. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, making referrals and linkages, and assisting with program analysis, budget development, and monitoring. You'll also contribute to outcome measurement, data collection, and adherence to documentation and Electronic Health Record (EHR) standards while aligning activities with the Code of Virginia and fostering vital stakeholder partnerships. In this role, you'll play a vital part in managing staff who provide critical crisis intervention services for clients with a wide range of emotional, mental, and substance use disorder-related issues, often involving the most challenging cases, such as those at risk of self-harm or harm to others. You'll supervise and personally conduct pre-screening assessments that may result in involuntary or court-ordered hospitalizations. The safety of our dedicated staff relies on your ability to assess the volatility of emergency calls and initiate the appropriate response. Together with the program manager, you'll ensure 24/7 coverage by managing staffing and logistical support, provide clinical supervision to Emergency Services Counselors seeking licensure, maintain DBHDS supervision mandates for pre-screeners, and participate in on-call duties. As a Licensed Therapist (LPC or LCSW) position at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will provide clinical supervision to unlicensed therapists or graduate student interns within our agency.
Requirements:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license and possess at least four years of experience in a psychiatric care setting that includes counseling and crisis intervention functions. Previous supervisory or management experience is required.
- Successful completion of pre-admission screener certification training modules within 30 days of hire is a must.
If you are a dedicated and experienced Licensed Clinician professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those in crisis, we invite you to consider joining our team at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board in this critical role as our Assistant Emergency Services Manager (LPC or LCSW).
