***This is an open recruitment for Emergency Medical Technicians that are interested in becoming Firefighters with Provo City Fire Department. Testing will be conducted the week of January 8, 2024.***

Provo Fire just moved into the new public safety administration building, rebuilt Station 2 in 2020, remodeled two other stations, and are in the process of building a new Station 1.

CPAT (for those who pass the Written): January 9, 2024

Job Details
Pay Rate: (G25)Starting at $18.04 per hour.
Essential Duties:
- Assess victims and determine Emergency Medical treatment needed at incidents.
- Administer medical aid.
- Handle a wide variety of emergency situations.
- Provide EMT level medical treatment.
- Transport, lift, restrain or otherwise move patients.
- Remove patients, victims, and personnel from various situations.
- Report victim assessments and conditions to medical personnel.
- Participate in drills and training.
- Restock ambulance supplies and maintain supply inventory during shifts.
- May conduct station tours and/or assist with public education and outreach duties.
- Assist other staff and perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Basic EMT license (Utah Office of Emergency Medical Services and Preparedness).
- Valid, Utah Driver License.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must obtain Firefighter I and II certifications within 6 months of hire (NFPA and Utah Fire and Rescue Academy standards).
- Note: Employees of this classification must maintain required certifications to retain position.
Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
