***This is an open recruitment for Emergency Medical Technicians that are interested in becoming Firefighters with Provo City Fire Department. Testing will be conducted in January 2024, final date TBD.***

Provo Fire just moved into the new public safety administration building, rebuilt Station 2 in 2020, remodeled two other stations, and are in the process of building a new Station 1.
Job Details
Application Process: This is an open recruitment; applications will be considered in the order they are received. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements listed below to be eligible for the testing process.
Pay Rate: (G25)Starting at $18.04 per hour.
Essential Duties:

• Assess victims and determine Emergency Medical treatment needed at incidents.
• Administer medical aid.
• Handle a wide variety of emergency situations.
• Provide EMT level medical treatment.
• Transport, lift, restrain or otherwise move patients.
• Remove patients, victims, and personnel from various situations.
• Report victim assessments and conditions to medical personnel.
• Participate in drills and training.
• Restock ambulance supplies and maintain supply inventory during shifts.
• May conduct station tours and/or assist with public education and outreach duties.
• Assist other staff and perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Basic EMT license (Utah Office of Emergency Medical Services and Preparedness).
• Valid, Utah Driver License.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must obtain Firefighter I and II certifications within 6 months of hire (NFPA and Utah Fire and Rescue Academy standards).
• Note: Employees of this classification must maintain required certifications to retain position.

Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
