Andrews EMS is the sole 911 provider for the City of Andrews and Andrews County. Andrews EMS operates four BLS with MICU capable ambulances to cover 1600 square miles or rural West Texas. Through a high level of training and evidence based, up-to-date protocols, Andrews EMS strives to provide critical care access to its community members.
Position Summary: The paramedic provides a high-quality service and patient care, treatment, and transportation in an expedient, professional, safe, and caring manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to Andrews County 911 calls and inter-facility transport from local hospital
- Safely operate and maintain an ambulance and be in compliance with all laws pertaining to the operations of an ambulance
- Communicates necessary patient information to other members of the health care profession according the HIPAA guidelines
- Complies with all Andrews EMS policies and procedures, including the City of Andrews Employee policies.
- Renders competent patient care in both pre-hospital and inter-facility setting.
- Accurately and completely document patient care reports in a timely manner
- Continually improves and upgrades the skills and knowledge of the Emergency Medical profession
- Cleans and maintains the cleanliness of Andrews EMS property.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of all ambulances, ambulance equipment, supplies, and first response vehicles
- Ability to learn and operate all equipment and supplies that Andrews EMS uses
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- State of Texas certificate/license-Paramedic
- Maintains current and valid (in good standing) Texas Driver’s license
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR card), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) cards
- Ability to work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines
- Assist in the care and maintenance of all ambulances, ambulance equipment, supplies, and first response vehicles
- Ability to read and write
- Critical care level certification desired
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to Lift 50 lbs without assistance and 200lbs with assistance
- Ability to wear a N95 mask with proper fit
- Perform activities requiring a moderate to extended amount of standing, sitting, and walking
- Able to conduct activities requiring a moderate to rigorous amount of static pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting (knuckle height and ankle height) bending, squatting, twisting, and carrying

Pay: Pay is based upon qualifications and experience. Entry-level paramedic pay starts at $81,000 a year with annual 2% step raises. Higher pay depending on applicable certifications. Andrews EMS holds a high standard care and believes in compensating its employees well for this expectation.
