Job Title:

Emergency Dispatcher



Salary/Grade:

$20.45 hr/F2



Job Summary:

Performs a variety of functions related to radio dispatching of emergency services (police/fire/medical) for the campus community, and basic administrative functions for the Miami University Police Department.



Duties/Physical Demands:

Receives and prioritizes incoming emergency calls from campus; obtains necessary information from callers; dispatches appropriate personnel and relays accurate information regarding situation.
Monitors campus alarm system; notifies appropriate personnel regarding any alarms received; monitors emergency channels of other agencies.
Conducts various computer checks regarding parking violations and other information as requested by officers.
Assists callers by answering questions and providing information.
Performs other related duties as necessary.



Minimum Qualifications:

Requires high school diploma or GED.



Desired Qualifications:

APCO/or related emergency dispatch training.
Previous Law enforcement emergency dispatching experience.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of communications equipment.
Knowledge of various emergency response units and their functions.
Ability to remain calm and make correct decisions in stressful situations.

Typical office environment.
