Emergency Dispatcher

Mifflin Township is seeking both lateral transfers and individuals new to the emergency communications field for the position of Emergency Dispatcher.

The individual receives and assess requests for 911 emergency assistance via multiple communication systems, and dispatch and coordinate available emergency response resources accordingly while providing comfort, guidance, and instruction to callers in distress.

Location: 400 W Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH

Job Type: Full-time Non-Exempt

Salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions include but not limited to:

• Receives, responds to, and enters into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system all incoming requests for emergency assistance

• Obtains from reporting parties all necessary information to determine the appropriate type and level of emergency response needed

• Dispatches emergency response resources

• Communicates important information, updates, and changes with emergency response personnel

• Coordinates with and provide information to law enforcement, utility companies, and other agencies as needed

• Works overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Ability to obtain the required certifications

• Minimum of 2 years of emergency dispatching experience preferred/but not required.
