Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. Position Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and according to established policies and procedures, performs a variety of clerical duties including compiling, transcribing, preparing, and maintaining records in a specific nursing unit or area and performs basic patient care and assistance. Provides information to visitors and staff.
Essential Functions:
- Assists the Emergency Dept. nurse in all patient care activities including, but not limited to: Registration, verifying identification, obtain medical history, enter orders correctly, monitoring vital signs, use cardiac, CO, pulse monitors as directed, other duties as assigned.
- Assuring patient care areas are stocked, clean and equipment is in order. Removing trash and dirty linens and cleaning beds after each patient is dispositioned.
- Assists RN and / or Physician as requested during patient assessment
- Monitoring patient vital signs (including obtaining OSVS) and pain level as directed by RN and notifying RN of information.
- Maintains proficiency with Electronic Health Record and inventory control
- Placing patient on cardiac monitor, pulse oximetry, CO monitor and/or ETCO2 as directed by RN.
- Providing general basic patient care-positioning patients, lifting and turning, assisting in use of bedpan, commode, urinal or bathroom, weighing, application cold packs, and recording of intake and output.
- Answering call lights and advising nurse of needs beyond scope of position.
- Explains procedures and treatments thoroughly to patients, families, and/or significant others before completion.
- Follows up on customer complaints as quickly as possible by identifying steps to correct problem, communicating with RN and or manager, implementing plan, and providing feedback to customer.

Position Requirements:
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Current Certification as a Nurses’ Aides at a minimum
- Current CPR Certification
- Basic clerical and computer skills
