Primary Purpose:
To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with children; to motivate children to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education in accordance with each child’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
Committed to the mission of Nelson Mandela Elementary and Early Childhood Development Center
Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to scholars in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by NME/ECDC.
Participates in research and gathering data to analyze and improve instruction.

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each scholar.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Establishes and maintains standards of scholar behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluates scholars’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress and grade reports.
Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss scholars’ progress and interpret the school program.
Identifies scholar needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping scholars solve health, social, emotional, and learning issues.
Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities.
Participates cooperatively with the principal or director in the evaluation process.
Supervises scholars in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of scholar activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Nebraska teaching certificate
- A team player with experience working in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to listen to and communicate with parents and see parents as a resource.
- Possesses conflict resolution skills.
- Uses strong organizational skills to meet classroom and individual needs.
- Is capable of working with small and large classroom groups.
- Experience in an elementary or early childhood school environment.
- Open to new strategies, ideas, and methods to meet the needs of all children.
- Certified as a Spalding educator Level I within one year
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $54,540.00 - $64,357.20 per year
