TITLE:Elementary Spanish Dual Language Teacher - (2021-2022 School Year)
LOCATION: Urbana School District #116 School Buildings (Leal or Dr. Williams Elementary)
SUPERVISOR: Building Principal and Program Director
JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction of the Principals and Program Director, the Spanish Bilingual Teacher is responsible for helping emergent bilingual students learn subject matter and skills in Spanish that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women. The Spanish Bilingual Teacher understands bilingualism and biliteracy as intellectual, academic, and social foundations for a just and multicultural society. The teacher values cultural, racial, and linguistic diversity and uses it integrally to the benefit of all students in the classroom in her/his objectives and methodology. The teacher is committed to the cultivation and support of a just and multicultural environment, and collaborates well with all stakeholders (parents, teachers, instructional coaches, etc.) to ensure student achievement. The teacher provides instruction in Spanish in accordance with the language curriculum guidelines in an effort to deliver a guaranteed and viable curriculum in the French language at and above the grade-level standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited college or university, with certification and endorsements.
LICENSES/CREDENTIAL: Valid Illinois Teaching License with the appropriate endorsements. (Bilingual/ESL endorsements required)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary is based on a step placement which is determined by education, experience, and the Urbana Education Association and Board of Education contract.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
NOTE: This is a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.
