New Roads' Elementary School is looking for a Teaching Assistant to begin August, 2024.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effective classroom management skills and flexibility
Assist lead teachers in planning, prepping, and implementing an active learning experiences; including regularly assessing student learning and presenting this learning in formal reports and conferences
Assist with the instruction of small groups, individual students, and the class as a whole to support students
Experience and/or interest in differentiated instruction, project-based, constructivist approach to teaching and learning, as well as portfolio, authentic, and performance assessment.
Passion for teaching and understanding of and respect for students’ individual learning styles
Show a commitment to supporting the holistic ( intellectual, social, emotional, ethical, and aesthetic) development of the student, both inside and outside of the class.
Lead class when lead teacher is absent
Maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect, which encourages students to risk asking questions, expressing their opinions, and making mistakes necessary to the learning process.
Passion for professional growth and continuous learning, including the ability to be self-reflective and learn from feedback received from colleagues, and administrators.
Demonstrate excellent organization, time management and follow-through skills
Desire to collaborate across disciplines
Exhibit the ability to work collaboratively
Attend all meetings
Communicate respectfully, thoughtfully, sensitively to families and caregivers with an awareness of different families, cultures, values and needs.
Perform supervisory duties
Perform additional duties, as needed and assigned
Degree in education or have completed student teaching.
Minimum of two years classroom experience at the Elementary School level
Excellent organization, communication and writing skills
Excellent classroom management skills
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
Applicants should have an informed understanding of a progressive, creative approach to teaching, and strong classroom management skills.
Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to New Roads philosophy and approach to education.

The hourly rate for this role is $21.63 - $31.25 per hour. This is the lowest to highest rate we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.
