Elementary School K-3 Literacy Paraprofessional
Position Goal:
- To increase student achievement in foundational literacy skills of K-3 studentsGeneral Requirements:
- Ability and desire to work with Kindergarten through third grade aged students
- Ability to work one-on-one and/or with small groups of students
- Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about foundational reading and literacy skills
- Ability to use school assessments to monitor student progress
- Basic understanding of Word, Excel, and Apple iPad functions
- Ability to collaborate with staff
- Ability and/or willingness to learn delivery of instruction remotely through Seesaw
- Must be able to communicate effectively, follow written and oral instruction, district policies and technical materials
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Performance Responsibilities
- Delivers reading interventions to small groups of students
- Works with groups of students in grades K through 3 within the daily schedule
- Implements research-based programs as designated; maintains up-to-date data and progress monitoring scores using technology software.
- Develops positive classroom management techniques in order to engage and keep students on task.
- Assists lead teachers in preparing materials and resources for literacy instructional activities, including preparing print and digital instructional materials.
- Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums.
- Performs other non instructional duties as assigned by the lead teacher, principal or his/her designee.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community.
- Maintains a cooperative working relationship with principal, supervising teachers, students, parents, staff, and public.
