ELEMENTARY LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER, WOODWARD NORTH

The Elementary Language Arts Teacher involves teaching sixth-grade English and reading classes. This position begins on August 1.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
- A solid understanding of learning challenges as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support students’ needs
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with experience in reading and/or literacy instruction.
- Proficient in using technology support platforms/programs that will support student learning.
- 3+ years of successful teaching at the elementary level preferred
The Elementary Language Arts Teacher, Woodward North, is an exempt ten-month position. Benefits are substantial. EO
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out a program of study prescribed in the English and reading curriculum
- Creating a learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests, and learning styles of the students
- Having a thorough knowledge of grammar and understanding its importance to the class and student writing
- Carrying out ongoing assessment of reading and writing needs; writing and modifying the lesson plans as needed; maintaining student achievement records
- Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment
- Assists with projects and school-wide initiatives and has the ability and willingness to contribute to the Academy through co-curricular activities.

- Communicating effectively with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators
