Job description

JOB TITLE:             Elementary Instructional Coach (Math & Reading Focused)

REPORTS TO:        Building Principal

 

JOB SUMMARY The employee serves as a teacher leader and specialist in math and reading, or other specialized content. As a leader and specialist, the employee works with coaches and supports other teachers/support staff in identifying, developing, and implementing curriculum, assessment and instructional strategies designed to improve student learning in specific areas. As an Instructional Coach, the employee will work in a variety of educational, individual and team teaching elementary settings. An Instructional Coach shares in the responsibility for student instruction and social-emotional learning readiness. This is not a supervisory position and does not include evaluation of colleagues. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  1. Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification with Childhood/Elementary authorization.
  2. 5 years' experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.
  3. Experience using data to inform instruction.
  4. Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents through an equitable and trauma informed lens.
  5. Ability to meet the Covid-19 vaccine requirements for OAR 333-019-1030

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Endorsements in reading and math, Trauma Informed Care knowledge, and Constructing Meaning training.
  2. Willingness to work with extra-curricular activities.
  3. Spanish language skills.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support all teachers in understanding the CCSS curriculum, assessments, the framework for teaching, and data analysis.
  2. Provide direction and coordination for how District adopted curriculum is taught consistent with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
  3. Create an articulated schedule with building administration.
  4. Provide professional development and technical support to collaborative teams.
  5. Assist teachers with resources/materials/tools/ information to support classroom instruction and planning.
  6. Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels.
  7. Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of students.
  8. Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success.
  9. Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   190-day contract at 1.0 FTEBased on current SEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement ($45,005-$ 72,007) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement.  Paid time off includes one sick day per month worked and two personal days, pro-rated per school year.   Starts August 28, 2023.  Benefit information can be found at https://www.seaside.k12.or.us/hr/benefits.
