JOB TITLE:
Elementary Classroom Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Mississippi Educator License with appropriate endorsement
2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board or superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Principal/Director or designee
JOB GOAL:
To provide an environment that supports a foundation for further participation in the total school program that facilitates learning and personal growth.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Believes strongly that all students can learn and that all teachers are responsible for structuring an educational environment in which all students can be successful.
2. Provides reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to pupils utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.
3. Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
4. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

6. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
7. Evaluates academic and social growth of pupils, and keeps appropriate records.
8. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interprets the school program.
9. Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
10. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
11. Collaborates with other teachers to determine best practices of instruction.
12. Collaborates with other teachers in developing formative and summative assessments and ensures alignment to the curriculum.
13. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
14. Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
15. Selects and recommends the requisition of books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
16. Supervises pupils with classroom activities assigned during the assigned working day.
17. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
18. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required.
19. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
20. Identifies individual needs of the pupils and make appropriate internal and external referrals.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
