Job description

TMC, a LinQuest company is seeking an Electronics Technician II to join our team at our office in Las Cruces, NM
The Electronics Technician lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, systems, and related products and services. Fixes technical problems by applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing.
Responsibilities:

  • Conduct discussions of the layout and assembly procedures and problems with engineering personnel and draws basic schematics to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
  • Develop wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for as built system or equipment modifications or expansion.
  • Use test equipment and devices to test products and devices during real world testing for functionality, operational readiness, and evaluates the performance and reliability of equipment in both lab and real-world testing environments.
  • Build new power cables, enet, comms etc.... customized per system and install cabling, electrical wiring (high and low voltage), conduit running and equipment integration dressing and testing.
  • Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Plan, direct, and record periodic testing.
  • Diagnose, perform corrective, and preventative maintenance on operational equipment to ensure successful testing and mission readiness.
  • Review schematic design, work, and providing feedback to engineers with new projects work in upgrading older ones.
  • Build, test and quality assure new production systems and products using signal analyzers, Multi- meters and signal generators, etc. and keep records and documentation of cable and equipment
  • Set up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Review, research and obtain quotes for entire system cable stock and components from different vendors, as well as MSDS chemical safety updates and disposal.
  • Analyze and interpret test data.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.
  • Provide input to technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations for consideration by engineers in broader determinations affecting systems design and laboratory procedures.
  • Diagnose cause of electronic or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • May assemble experimental circuitry or complete prototype model according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components.
  • May operate manual and powered hand tools to fabricate parts, such as coils, terminal boards, and chassis.
  • Keeps records of all schematics, documentation and inspection checklists.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • Motivated and able to take direction. Performs routine tasks and work is checked on completion.
  • Able to follows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives instructions on unfamiliar assignments.
  • Works overtime to assure the product is high quality and delivered on time.
  • Abides by Company policies, procedures, and AS9100 quality policy.
  • Knowledgeable of computers and related to electronics
  • Proficient communication skills to work with team members and converse with customers and clients as required.
  • Develops familiarity with and use of tech-lab equipment
  • Proficient in reading and translating technical reports and documentation with MS desktop applications
  • Basic schematic reading and understanding
  • Perform simple wiring and wire harness assembly
  • Perform basic and advanced soldering
  • Perform basic troubleshooting
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Years of Experience:
6+ years relevant work experience with the testing of electronic equipment of which three (3) years should be relevant work experience in the testing and troubleshooting of electronic subsystem installations in military systems.
Education:
High School diploma or GED
Preferred:
  • Associates or BSc in Engineering relate field, or degree from a technical college
  • Certified IPC Specialist
