- The team supports the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Small Satellite Portfolio (SSP).
- AFRL manages a variety of flight missions and ground programs, focusing on greater levels of connectivity, autonomy, performance, resilience, and collaboration within the Hybrid Architecture.
- SSP is developing, testing, and transitioning small satellite technologies to support the Hybrid Architecture vision for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and interpret schematics and wire diagrams
- Fabricate cable harnesses to IPC J-STD-001/WHMA-620 standards
- Use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, and amp meters to measure current and capture signals on live circuits, etc.
- Use of cutting and crimp machines
- Use of hand tools
- Fabricating complex payload harnesses using db, high density, omnetics, micro and nano d, circular and various types of connectors.
- Soldering and de-soldering SMT components and Terminals
- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) awareness/knowledge
- Basic understanding of circuits
- Basic electrical troubleshooting
- Work closely with engineers and other technicians in an integrated environment of test and integration for electrical components, subsystems, products, and projects
- Establish understanding and implementation of various components based on their specs, calculations, and operations as defined in their datasheet
- Identify and recommend electrical components, subsystems, and products by completing trade studies to identifying new components to meet given requirements
- Execute test procedures in support of integration, build, and testing of components, subsystems, projects, and programs
- Identify program problems and assist in establishing solutions and improved processes
- Aid in the continued build-out, advancement, and growth of the Space Monkey facility
- Gather, compile, and maintain technical data (e.g., test results, engineering design changes, engineering drawings, engineering documentation, etc.)
- Minimum of Associates of Science degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in electrical or space industry
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET or TOP-SECRET security clearance and handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations.
- Electronics AC/DC knowledge
- IPC J-STD-001/WHMA-620 Certifications
- Experience in cable harness fabrication (Class 3)
- Experience in hand/reflow soldering printed circuit boards
- Experience in space or aerospace conditions, systems, operations, and industry
- Ability to work in a tight-knit team environment as well as self-driven for independent tasks
- This is a full-time position, and on-site work is a requirement.
