Job Summary
The Electronic Security Assistant staffs and operates the police department badging stations with data input and printing badges for new vendors, contractors and visitors, as well as but not limited to badge replacements, processing access requests, tracking badge supplies and maintenance of badge printer. Assists with the coordination and set-up of special access requests for events on campus.
Required Experience and Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and three (3) years experience in an Electronic Security/information technology role, including at least one (1) year of customer service experience.
- Job Duties
- Staffs and operates the Police Department badge stations with minimal direct supervision, with duties including but not limited to: data input and printing of badges for new vendors, contractors, visitors and students; ID badge replacements; processing access requests; building access levels; tracking badging supplies; and maintenance of the badge printers.
- Evaluates badge applications for accuracy and appropriateness of requests. Coordinates vendor and contractor access with various department liaisons and maintains vendor/contractor badge records.
- Functions as liaison with other University departments; prepares online and paper documents as needed, including user activity reports, system configuration reports, audit reports and alarm reports.
- Assists with the coordination and programming of special access requests for events, meetings, seminars, and gatherings on campus.
- Troubleshoots reported badge access issues by running system reports.
- Verifies daily HR terminations and transfers to ensure proper deactivation of badges and removal of access.
- Submits ID badge replacement receipts and supporting documentation as needed.
- Assists system administrators by conducting cleanup and maintenance of the access control database.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks such as assisting with testing of various security/access control equipment located throughout the campus.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
