Job description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER, Position Description Number D2285P01and is part of the HI 154 AMXS, National Guard.

LOCATION: 154th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii

Qualifications:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. The following seven basic qualification factors are required:

  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Skilled in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes
  • Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats
  • Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings
  • Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material
  • Skilled in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months of skill and knowledge of the FWS 2610 work at the craftsman level. Capable of leading three or more employees to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. Demonstrated competencies and experiences in performing on-or-off equipment maintenance on one-or-more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on systems such as automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems. Skilled in performing in-process inspections within the shop and onsite of repair, diagnostics, modification, overhaul and/or rebuild of integrated electronic systems and related support equipment. Experiences involved performing personnel training evaluations and work spot-check reviews. Skilled in identifying quality standards through detailed reviews of electronic, electrical, mechanical and operational by using inspection methods. Experiences involved investigating causes of critical or major defects and applying corrective actions. Competent in performing inspections of completed work. Competent in performing work that requires direct interactions with aircrews for mission/sortie debrief and enhanced system troubleshooting. Must have the skills to direct on equipment or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft, and/or maintenance on systems such as, automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems. Experienced in following instructions and guidance from senior supervisors that resulted in full execution of tasks that successfully accomplished goals and objectives. Experienced in providing technical data, schematics, plans, blueprints, material, and test equipment to complete assigned work. Skilled in identifying and balancing the work requirements. Experiences included monitoring and reporting on work effort, task status and work progress. Experienced in mentoring and coaching team members in the selection and application of appropriate problems solving methods and techniques. Skilled in facilitating and/or skilled and knowledgeable in obtaining training for unit members to learn and improve methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish work. Work experiences involved preparing reports and maintaining completed work records. Must have the skills and abilities to anticipate concerns, investigate causes of critical or major defects, and apply corrective actions. Experiences included compliance with wearing the appropriate safety equipment and following pertinent safety precautions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

4. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Education:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: To qualify an enlisted applicant for hire consideration into an ANG Dual Status Technician FWS 2610 position, award of the compatible Air Force Specialty Code, Craftsman Seven Skill Level; Journeyman Five Skill Level; or, the Apprentice Three Skill Level, with the position's compatible unit position assignment and a high school diploma, are mandatory requirements. Completion of high school courses in physics, algebra, trigonometry, and computer principles is desirable. Higher academic college courses and degrees that are aligned within the FWS Series 2610 type of work tasks are also desirable. For the WL-13, WL-12, WG-14, and WG-13 ANG Dual Status Technician positions, the mandatory military education requirements are the completion of an Air Force Seven Skill Level Technical Training School and awarded a compatible Seven Skill Level AFSC, along with the successful completion of at least one military professional education course program.

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Normally moderate to high physical effort is required in lifting, carrying, pushing and handling items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasional objects weighing up to 70 pounds. Required to stoop, bend, stand, and work in close quarters. Some assignments require climbing on items. Wears and utilizes required safety devices and equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside at various locations and in all kinds of weather. Subject to cuts and bruises from use of hand and power tools and to electrical shock.

MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709.

NOTES TO CANDIDATES:
a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.

b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.

c. In addition to your application, documents of last performance appraisal, past civilian performance, letter of recommendations, and or military performance may be submitted.

d. Candidates may be screened and evaluated on military attributes directly related to the compatible military position required to be assigned into, such as, but not limited to, military bearing, leadership, or ability to work with others (teamwork) in a military environment.

e. Include any volunteer work experience in your resume. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

f. Final selection will be based upon qualifications, suitability, and available manpower resources.

g. This employer will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.

h.
