This position requires you to maintain internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans to be used when required for work.
Purpose
This role provides the highest level of support for campus security systems, the end users who rely on it and the university community at large. In so doing, we make the significant task of managing a resource as varied and complex as the University of Texas at Austin look simple to our customers. Responsibilities include providing expertise to both our internal team and campus customers in designing, implementing, and documenting the configuration of physical access and video security systems for campus.
Responsibilities
  • Document, support, and analyze campus security systems to ensure current standards and best practices are met. Implement process changes as needed to maintain a quality product that meets the needs of the user and the university.
  • Support the integrity, functionality, and reliability of the campus VMS and PACS system.
  • Assist in the oversight of physical security design and installation for construction and remodel projects to ensure delivery of a quality product that meets the Universities standards.
  • Support the Service department work order mechanism to ensure that work is performed accurately, triaged appropriately, and published SLA's are met or exceeded.
  • Coordinate and communicate with our campus partners to provide the highest level of service. Ensure proper steps are being taken to correct or enhance systems as needed.
  • On a rotating basis provide after hours on call support for campus VMS and PACS systems and the users who rely on them.
  • Support the department's mission to comply with university policy and help maintain industry best practices. Provide recommendations for updates as needed.
  • Driving university owned vehicles to job sites will occasionally be required for this position. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy UTS157.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school graduation or GED
  • At least 4 years' experience with physical Access Control and video security systems
  • Genetec access or video certification

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some higher education experience
  • Industry specific certifications
  • Experience working in higher education space
  • Microsoft certifications including Net

Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range
$54,766 + depending on qualifications

Work Shift
  • Monday-Friday flexible between 7am-6pm. On-call work required (once every six weeks). Occasional weekends required (during large campus events).

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
