Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Electromagnetic Effects Test Technician for the LASSO II contract, supporting the Space Division at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL. This fulltime position provides technical support to the Electromagnetics Laboratory primarily as well as various research and development laboratories at the Kennedy Space Center. This support requires the ability to perform informal and formal electromagnetic interference tests based on MIL-STD 461 using various pieces of test equipment and test automation software in both laboratory and field environments. You will also maintain and service RF monitoring sites at various outdoor locations. Additional tasks may include inspection and maintenance of safety equipment, maintaining chemical inventories, coordinating removal of hazardous waste and expired chemicals, maintaining the laboratories inventory of supplies and consumables, and keeping the laboratory organized. Other tasks may include replacing expired components on pressure systems, assembly of mechanical systems, soldering and wire termination in support of electrical system assembly, and occasional repair of inoperative equipment where practical. Work will be performed onsite at the Kennedy Space Center.
This position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task. Shift work may be required.
JOB DETAILS
The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-sufficient hands-on engineer with a solid background in electromagnetic interference testing, effective operations and testing leadership, and operations and maintenance experience with complex electronic test equipment. Knowledge and skills in electromagnetic interference test methods, test automation, and demonstrated strength in leadership and management of test tasks and test teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- High school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma.
- 3 years of related experience (Level I) or 7 years of related experience (Level II).
- Must be familiar with basic test equipment: voltmeter, ohmmeter, multimeter.
- Able to work at heights with climbing harness.
- Current U.S. Citizenship is required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Excellent communication, presentation and customer interface skills required.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Must be able to coordinate work between multiple projects or tasks.
- Amateur or Commercial Radio License.
- iNARTE EMI or ESD certification.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy.
- Must be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work independently or with minimal supervision after initial training.
- Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint.
- Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
- Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site and some occasional outside work.
- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
- Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Helps maintain laboratory test and measurement procedures and work instructions.
- Performs standard laboratory tests for task leads.
- Documents completed inspections and other maintenance tasks in Maximo work control system.
- Ensures calibrated equipment is removed from use and turned in for calibration when due.
- Keep safety equipment functioning properly and available when needed.
- Maintain chemical inventory so needed chemicals and available and not expired.
- Work on other related tasks as assigned.
