As a System Engineer within the Editron Off-Highway business, you will be the primary technical adviser and support of customers on a wide range of electric and hybrid drivetrain and power generation systems. You will work closely with customers (both direct and distribution), consulting engineers, Danfoss Regional Account Management team in support of the Business Unit's revenue growth plan. As a key part of our business unit sales team, your responsibility will be to provide technical support to our customers throughout the Americas.
We prefer to hire an employee in the Central or Eastern time zones.
Key responsibilities in this position:
- Selection, application, and configuration of electric and hybrid electric drivetrain systems for various off-highway and serial production marine applications.
- Selection, application, and system configuration of hydraulic and power generation systems to be used and integrated with electric and hybrid electric drivetrain systems.
- Co-ordinate and lead product training for internal and external stakeholders including new System Engineers and distributors.
- Develop and present technical proposals including system and application design considerations to distributors, consultants, and OEM customers.
- Responsible for the development of component and system dimensioning tools for distribution partners.
- Work closely with product management and engineering for the maintenance and enhancements of component and system dimensioning tools.
- Work with business technical and commercial teams in support of the execution of improvements and enhancements to system dimensioning tools and new product development features
- Organize, coordinate, and conduct electrification training for authorized distributors, select OEMs, consultants, and internal sales and engineering teams and individuals
- Provide technical support across all products within the portfolio and ensure content and preparation of relevant technical documentation in support of sales activities.
- Work with the BU sales development managers and Danfoss field sales teams to review and approve new applications with customers throughout the system design process.
- Join sales and account managers on customer visits and serve as the electrification technical sales asset for the team. Develop and maintain relationships with OEMs, distributors, and consultants as required to support the long-term growth of the business unit.
- Identify, specify, and initiate product and system changes and adjustments based on customer requirements. Represent Editron at trade shows and exhibitions.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in testing and tuning of the electric/hybrid machines as required by customers.
- Assist in new product development by providing Americas market feedback and being an internal voice of customers for the product management and product application engineering teams.
- Support Account management teams in developing winning proposals by deploying Danfoss' Value Selling principles.
- Support the development of demo vehicles at Danfoss Application Development Centers (ADC).
To be considered for this position, you must have a degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or Experience in relevant technical fields. The candidate must have experience working as a mobile equipment or Electrification System or application engineer with strong demonstrated competencies and expertise in the area. Experience in project management would be an asset although not necessary. Solid English language skills (both spoken & written) are required. Must be willing to travel up to 25% and be willing to travel infrequently to international locations for training or important customer meetings.
Required skills:
- BSEE, BSME, BAEET, or equivalent technical degree and experience.
- 2+ years of experience in applying and developing power systems using electric machines, generators, power electronics, etc.
- 3+ years in a customer-facing technical support role.
- Working knowledge of system and electrical engineering principles and processes.
- Strong experience with component selection and system application of power electronics, electric machines, energy storage, and power generation technologies.
- Strong comprehension of electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of CAN bus and/or other control protocols.
- Knowledge of AC and DC power systems a plus.
- Testing, validation, and on-site troubleshooting for the Off-highway machines across the Americas. Possess fundamental knowledge of data acquisition and data post-processing.
- Ability to work in Danfoss Plus+1 Programming Environment, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent presentation skills - Ability to speak in front of a large audience and ability to communicate technical concepts and details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of Off-Highway B2B market in both direct and distribution channels.
- Experience with providing technical training to external and internal audiences.
- Ability to work in a matrix organization with cross-functional and global teams.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to meet demanding sales deadlines while providing high-quality support.
- Strong coaching skills and willingness to train customers, distributors, and internal people on Danfoss Electrification Products and systems.
