Position: Electrician, WG-10/11

Division: Finance and Facilities Division

Unit: Facilities Operations Unit

Location: Washington DC

Working Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm (Flexible)

Salary: WG-10 $33.61-$39.26 (Hourly)
WG-11 $35.33-$41.28 (Hourly)

Full Performance level: WG-11

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Major Duties

  • Work at a Journeyperson Electrician level - install, modify, repair, troubleshoot, maintain, and test complex electrical systems, circuits, equipment, appliances, controls, components, lights, fire alarms conducting operations and maintenance or facility equipment. Install, repair, maintain, troubleshoot equipment using 600 volts and below including 120, 208, 240, 277 and 480 volts.
  • Demonstrates proper work methods, maintains knowledge in up-to-date electrical techniques and codes, and implements them as required and appropriate for assigned tasks.
  • Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls.
  • Observes conditions, performs inspections, makes tests, and performs maintenance and repairs on systems up to 600 volts and their related components to assure proper operation, detect abnormal conditions, and take corrective action as required

Specialized Experience (SE):

WG-10: SE is defined as follows:

  • Experience with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of lesser complex electrical wiring systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment in industrial, institutional, office, and residential buildings.
  • Skilled in use of hand tools (wire cutters, drills, crimpers, conduit benders, etc.) and a wide variety of test equipment such as test meters, volt meters, amp meters, watt meters and ohm meters.
  • Able to install and modify new conduit systems to include bending various conduit types, threading rigid conduit and familiar with associated fitting types and uses.
  • Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls.

WG-11: In addition to the WG-10, SE is defined as follows:

  • Experience and knowledge of the construction, installation, operation, and troubleshooting of sophisticated circuitry and controls associated with unique applications including variable frequency drives, motor control centers, fire alarm systems, etc.
